Before Quaint Oaks...
She was living in New Jersey, working for an archaeological firm. He lived in Pennsylvania and used to work for said archaeological firm. She was digging in his town, wearing her finest Carharts and rain gear. He was visiting the site to say hello to old friends. Neither knew that was the first page of their storybook together.
Within a few months, the girl from New Jersey left her beaches and headed to the country to be with her beau. They went back to school...and would pass notes in class! He loved her cooking, and she never missed one of his baseball games. Before long, he put a ring on her finger...with a proposal that could have been in a movie! They got a kitten...and then another. They spent their time antiquing, geocaching, crafting, and dreaming of one day. They became teachers and coaches and worked hard and saved. They had a lovely backyard wedding and then it happened. One day had come.
It's all happening...
Life was on hold for a few years while we worked odd jobs, got our Masters, pinched pennies, and lived on little, but Ian told me to be patient. He was right...he's almost always right. When the time had come, we saved and searched high and low for our perfect little starter home. The hunt was long and arduous, but just as Ian promised, we found our cozy little cottage which we now call Quaint Oaks. Quaint - because it is. Just check out our house tour if you don't believe me! Oaks - because we have some of the biggest oak trees either of us have ever seen! Thank goodness for Ian's creative vision because I had trouble seeing past the hunter's lodge deco. With a little paint and some elbow grease, this little house has become our home...but we're a long way from done!
So here we go. As we settle into Quaint Oaks, we are finally doing all of those things that were tagged for one day. We're building...building our home, our antique collection, our library, our experience, and our family. To quote Penny Lane from Almost Famous, "it's all happening."

Quaint Oaks is a work in progress. This space is intended to journal our journey. While we are busy building, DIYing, fixing, collecting, renovating and learning how to be adults, we will share every idea and step in the process.

And then there were three...
On January 8 at 2:55pm our world became complete when Denver Jude came into the world. I knew I would love being a mommy, but Denver is such an amazing gift...I had no idea I could love anyone so much.
